Lego game sets

Santa has been keeping daddy quite busy with  the things he brought for our little boy. When it comes to Legos they're a lot of fun but there's also a lot of time building each different set.  You have to make sure that you keep the instructions and to make sure that you keep all the pieces to the individual sets makes it a lot easier.

Battery Heads here

It never fails  or should I say it just about always fails. Depending on the daily temperature we have to know how many batteries to bring fully charged for our camera. It's never nice running out of  power when you need it the most. I remember the camera dieing while I was taking pictures of a beautiful water fall at a park on vacation. As I ran back to the truck I was hoping to see a sign that said Battery Heads here. If only...

Real life communities in a aquarium

When it comes to salt water aquarium its tough to know which fish will get along in the community of fishes. Its kind of like the real world or maybe the facebook world of tofay. Some people get along some people don't. Benny Mardones said it best in his song way of the world.

Energy saving

So glad we bought our wood stove years ago. The savings we get from it are amazing. Compared to our neighbors us burning wood is half the cost. This year we installed all outdoor solar led lighting our electric bill dropped about twelve dollars a month. The little things do make a big different in the long run.

Wal-mart trips

In the past week I have found myself at wal-mart three times. Luckily wal-mart is only a five mile round trip. Everytime I get home it might be a day later but I had forgotten something at the store. It makes me wonder and remember the different store trips that I used to take when wal-mart wasn't there.

Part 2: City water

So after digging the hole and finding the shut off valve at the street it was time to go to the side of our house and dig down under our footer. This would be the area where the new water line will come up under our house so we can hook it to our main line so it will feed two different kitchens and two different bathrooms that are in the house.

Electric impact wrench

Sometimes I like doing a mechanical work and I learn a lot in having the right tool for the right job. I tried to fix my muffler pipe on my car and I was very determined. I actually jacked up the car put my jack stands underneath to make sure the car couldn't fall on me. When I tried to get the old muffler bracket off it was too rusty. So I let the car down off the jacks and went to purchase an electric impact wrench. The wrench worked great I just had a hard time holding on to it under my car. Word of advice always wear gloves and safety glasses.

Fun time at the auction

It seems like this weekend was the weekend for auctions all over the place. You can save a lot of money if you know what you're looking for and you have cash on hand. But it seems like the later part of that statement is the one you never have enough of. At this time we really didn't have any projects on our house. We didn't end up buying anything but it was fun to watch the bidding.

I never knew how hard it was to come into this country until a friend of mine was trying to bring his fiance here from China by doing all the paper work himself.  As he looks back at all the problems he encountered he wished he hired an immigration lawyers in los angeles . It took him over three years after redoing everything twice.

First school days

It's hard to believe that my little guy is already in second grade it seemed just yesterday he was getting on the bus for the first time to go to kindergarten. He was so brave as he got on the bus and said goodbye to mommy for the first time. Mommy waited in a silent house all day on pins and needles waiting for that bus to bring her little guy home in one piece. He was so excited as he got off the bus to tell mommy stories of his first day in school.

Stair lift

Years ago we moved to the State of New York and in the winter time we tried to have as much fun outdoors with the snow as much as possible. One year my husband got a great deal on an skidoo snowmobile. Snowmobiles can be a lot of fun but they can also be very dangerous. He decided one day to meet one of his friends about eight miles away on a snowmobile. Going through an open lot there was a large tree limb that he didn't see that was covered with snow. The edge of the tree limb caught the front ski stopping the snowmobile quickly. My husband flew over the front of the snowmobile. When he landed it tore the muscles around his knee. Many operations later he cannot still put much weight on that leg at all. We had a stair lift installed at our entrance to get him up to the first floor. This coming spring we will have one installed to the next level up where our bedroom is. At the moment the couch is his bedroom and he can't wait to get back upstairs.

Electric folding bike

It's good fun and exercise riding our bikes over to my mother in law's house. The only  problem is that the ride over there is a little long for my seven year old son. Luckily at the pawn shop there was a used rechargeable folding bike. So convenient for our son and us. If we get to my mother in law's house and you don't feel like riding the bike home you can fold it up and stick it in the trunk of a car very easily.

Great Yamaha Drum Throne at musician's friend

It's fun sometimes watching our neighbor's garage band. Our neighbor used to collect antique snowmobiles. He sold all them and started buying band equipment for his kids. Every other day UPS pulls in with another box. He said he picked up three great Yamaha Drum Throne at musician's friend to complete the band stand. Hopefully by next week they're better at their songs.

Fair Haven beach park

It was so nice last weekend visiting Fair Haven Park again. Before we left we had such a perfect plan. We would go right there find our picnic site so we could get our charcoal burning to cook our hamburger and hotdogs. After that we would head to the beach for awhile. The only problem was when we got there, there was no parking space so we ended up driving around and around until somebody left a parking spot. After being on the beach for awhile we decided to go fishing. That was a lot of fun for all of us. What a long day.

Good vic firth at musicians friend

One thing for sure the cliché' you get what you pay for is always the truth. Last year I found a great deal on drumsticks for my up and coming drummer, my son. Within six months he had broke eight sets. I know he pounds the drums hard but I didn't realize how easy he cold snap them. I found good vic firth at musicians friend hopefully this time by buying the better ones they will last a lot longer.

The best thing ever in my new phone is the high definition camera. What a difference from my old phone. I rushed home after taking thirty of forty pictures at the beach. My son playing with his friends was priceless. How lucky he was to find two of his friends at the beach at the same time. One favorite picture of my son I put on my PC as a screen saver.

Quick release pins

My husband is always telling me of how much he misses his 1968 Camaro RS. It was the first and only car that he completely restored he says from the ground up. He showed me the pictures of before and after it's so hard to believe it is the same car. The only thing he has left of it after having to sell it to take care of bills he had is the hood. The hood has a beautiful tear drop hood scoop and chrome quick release pins painted with large silver metal flake over black base paint. So nice.

Blow up air beds

We have two spare rooms on our finish basement level. The other day we are thinking about buying a couple beds to put in there for when our family from out of state visits. After seeing today's blow up air beds we decided on picking up two of them. Now when the relatives leaves we can deflate them and use the room for different purposes when they're not here.

Raleigh commercial real estate lawyer

While working in Raleigh we couldn't believe the good deals on some fixer upper real estate. We flew down there just to help out an old friend that had booked too many pool installations. To say the least he needed to get sixteen done within one month which was just impossible for him so we have to help. In the mean time on Sunday I looked into a couple warehouses for our business. The next step is to find a Raleigh commercial real estate lawyer to take care of the purchase while I am up North. Hopefully things will go good.

Jamesville NY beach

We decided to go on a small trip today to a beach that we've never been into. It wasn't very far away but we were used to going to our beach that's close to home. We were amazed at the hot temperatures today that the beach wasn't over crowded. Our beach is always over crowded. From now on we maybe travelling a slight distance farther but going to this very nice beach.

Ultrasonic device

Are there too many birds around your house? Now I've seen it all. They have a motion activated bird repeller. If it senses movement first it sends out a loud sound of a predator bird  and then after a minute or two of that it sends out an ultrasonic tone that drives birds crazy.

Tenor saxophone

I feel sorry for my neighbor in a way I don't know how she can bear with it. Every three to five months her son changes his interest in musical instruments. First it was the drums  then a guitar. I think the trumpet came next. As far as I know after hearing him play for awhile he hasn't put enough time into it. While I was out to the mailbox my neighbor walked over and said the latest instrument  they will be shopping for is a  tenor saxophone. I assume that it was for her son when she told me it was for her husband. I was amazed.

I get so sick of the neighbor's dog getting into our well sealed garbage cans. I was over to my mother in law's and she was telling me down in Florida her neighbor picked up a motion activated ultra sonic  critter repeller. Anytime at night when something goes to get into the garbage cans an ultrasonic tone goes off which sends the critter scrambling. I definitely need one of these. Its only 18.00 dollars at Heartland America.

Best cigar

My brother in law lives quite a few states away. He travels for his work. He has his own construction company. Last weekend he called my husband and said he would be about four hours away if we wanted to visit him. Of course being brothers they had to have a few beers together at the hotel. After few beers my brother in law opened a box. He had collected quite a few cigars from around the country. He handed my husband the one he called the best cigar. After lighting them I told them that this is a no smoking room. After putting them out they went outdoors where they could enjoy them.

I charged the battery once do half the area that I have to do and then while the battery is charging I made a cup of coffee relax for a few minutes and then finish with the charged battery.

Sally just told me that she bought a yoga ball from www.yogadirect.com she's bringing it over to use during our exercise.

Summer project

So many things to do on the house and around the house. This year I hope that we have enough time for painting my son's play set and the deck. These are at the top of my list. I would like to buy one of those power sprayers to make it go so much faster. Let's hope we have enough money if we get the time.

Schooling

My husband had to go back to school to update his credentials for working inside a nuclear power plant. Each year they put more schooling so he can take on more responsibilities in the plant. He spent five days with 12 different tests and hours and hours of reading. If you flunk a test you can take it one more time. If you flunk it a second time you won't be working at the facilities. Luckily my husband passed with flying colors.

Furnace replacement

Central New York's winters can be very harsh when it comes to a lot of things. Just getting up in the morning  and looking at the driveway that has two foot of new snow is enough to want you to go back to bed but of course you have to go to work. When a storm is coming in my husband gets up two hours early  so he can get out and plow the driveway before I have to leave for work. Friends of hours that live next door moved to Calgary. We visited them last winter. Halfway through our first night there it got very very cold.

My husband woke up his friend, they went downstairs and the furnace wasn't working. My husband checked it out and to find it had a cracked heat exchanger that could have killed us all from the fumes. Luckily, the sensors on the furnace shut itself down. The next day he called calgary furnace replacement. They were there the same day after calling early in the morning. That following Saturday I woke up to this hissing sound. Apparently, the temperatures were so cold in their crawl space that one of the feed pipes had cracked. After shutting the water off we had to call a calgary plumber to fix the system. It didn't take long and everything was all right once again.

Early spring

After last week's weather we were really hoping spring was here. We could see some of the grass and on the edge of the house there were two inch tops  of the tulip plants coming through the soil. And then everything turned around. Temperature plummeted and the snow started piling up again. We should be used to it but each year we hope for an early spring.

Boat paint job

Last year we skipped putting the boat on the water. That was a big mistake. We didn't put it in because it needed a complete paint scraping on the bottom and some semi-minor motor adjustments. But this year we won't make that mistake. Hopefully by May first the weather will be good enough to launch the boat with its new bottom paint job.

Aluminum briefcase

Its always so hard finding unique Christmas presents  for my mom and dad and brothers. Out of five family members last year  only two of them I was for sure what to get them. The other three I had gone out to many stores and couldn't come up with any good present. Getting home one day from the non shopping my husband asked me to get a title for one of our vehicles out of the brief case and it hit me all at once that I would buy everyone in the family this year a nice brief case . I ordered all the aluminum briefcase from GotBriefcases.com they had a wide selection to pick from and everyone was so happy with my selection.

Ear cones

In today's high tech world when you go to the doctors he's always got a pill for this or for that. Most of this pills could kill you over not too long of time. I can't believe how many bad side effects in them. Going back to the basics as in natural cures seems like were actually going ahead when we look back. Growing up in the seventies  ear cones were something of an everyday thing. The old saying an apple a day keeps the doctor away is the best way to ward off acid reflux. Basics are better for you.

Setting up salt water aquarium

My husband wanted to set up salt water aquarium for Christmas. We already had the aquarium but what we didn't know was the ph in our water was high. He proceeded to mix and put the proper amount of salt in the water and then waited for ten days before he put the fish in. He had the proper amount of salt and the proper temperature of the tank when he put the fish in they seem to act really stressed and within days they died.

So back to the beginning. He bought a 50 dollar test kit for the water. As he tested it he found out that our well water isn't as good as we thought. So we ended up buying jags of spring water at the store for the aquarium and for us to drink. Now the set up is working fine but the first error cost around 300 dollars. What an expensive mistake.

last year we ended up buying four cords of wood to offset out heat bill by burning it in our heart stone wood stove. Over the summer we took trips back in our woods and picked up any kind of wood that was old and dry. Without cutting anything down we ended up with enough wood to get us through the winter or at least until March.

Spring clamp

My husband finds himself traveling all over the tri estate area when it comes to union work. The bag of tools that he brings with him gets heavier every year. Through the union the carpenter used to be a carpenter now to keep your job it seems like you have to be a jack of all trades. The last job he was on they kept him only for two weeks and treated him like a labourer moving over four hundred sixteen foot planks in a few days was a lot of hard work by himself. Two jobs ago he was working third storey doing a very complex dormer on the side of the building. He use eighteen of the twenty
spring clamp to hold the project together perfectly before it was screwed in place. No one else would even attempt this part of the job scope.

Breakdown fuse elimination

After leaving my mother in law's on Christmas we drove down to the little store to pick up some necessity my husband left the car running  because my son and myself were inside. After coming out  and driving down the road a couple hundred feet the truck  completely shut down. The key would turn the motor over but there is no fuel. We had put the new oil pump in it two years prior but as my husband turn the key he could not hear the fuel pump running. He checked the fuses inside the truck that said fuel pump but they were good. He checked the fuses under the hood that and they were good also. He couldn't understand why the fuel pump wasn't working. It was a wet slushy day so maybe water had somehow shorted out the fuel pump wires. But the fuses were good. For the heck of it he decided to check all the fuses one by one inside to find out that the fuel pump has two fuses one labeled as fuel pump and one labelled as engine ignition. The one that was labelled engine ignition was blown. He put a new one in the truck started right up but two miles down the road the fuse blew again. The way he figured it he had five extra fuses and if each one got it that much closer to home we could walk if we were close. We were within six miles to begin with when we broke down. He crawled underneath wiggled the wires on the fuel pump put the second fuse in and it has been good ever since. He says he's going to just blame it on the wet slushy weather. What an ordeal!
