My new oriental rug

What a surprise! My husband can be so sneaky sometimes. All I know is I went to the bathroom. I started to open the door to come out, my husband yelled "hold up for a minute". I couldn't figure out what they were doing. In a few moments he said "it was okay to come out". There was kind of a smirk look on my son's face. As I walked into the living room there was my brand new oriental rug as I was hoping for Christmas.

The power of a mouse

I woke up early the other morning getting breakfast for the family. Eventually going to the sink turning on the water and there was none. My husband was still sleeping I thought to myself "should I wake him up"? I'm glad I did. Our water comes from our well and if there's a problem it usually a big one. My husband flew out of bed just barely zipping his pants to go way down the hill to investigate the pump. After getting down there uncovering the pump house which is underground, he pushed the reset switch. Sparks flew from the power cable coming in. As he was looking closer where the wires were shorted out he happen to notice a mouse that was apparently trapped in a pump house. The mouse had chewed the wires and shorted them out. After fixing the wires and coming up the hill my husband gave his sigh of relief to me saying that "of all the bad things that could happen to the well pump this one was the easiest to fix" needless to say this mouse's life became real short on that day.

Little girls dreams

We hauled out my step-daughter's bedroom the other day. Doing a complete make-over of the whole room was fun from picking out the new rug, stripping the old wall paper took sometime. What a mess. The color she picked out for the paint job is like a light plum color. It looks nice with the new border that we got. To top it all off she wanted all blow up furniture. What a unique bedroom. I just haven't figure it out if the hot pink four foot bunny fits in there yet.

Jarred's little world

They grow up so fast . It seems like just yesterday our son wasn't walking now he's running. He has really learned that his favorite stuff is really in the refrigerator. I think we're gonna have to get a lock on it. He wants to be independent the problem is that he wants to try everything on his own which sometimes can be dangerous. He thinks his little snoopy step stool is his ladder to all the goodies. Yesterday morning we caught him sitting on the counter eating sugar pops cereal.

Jarred's triumph

It is so much fun watching Jarred grow up. He started to dress himself it's kinda funny when he had the things inside out or upside down. He is such a smart little cookie. To see him trying to loop the string on his sneakers is just a priceless picture. One of his main triumps the other day was getting his coat zipped up but he discovered going too far is a choking experience. He kept on saying "mommy... mommy I need help!

Wonders of atoms

My husband has been looking up all energy saving devices from wind generators, solar collectors, light bulbs. Changing our house heat to burning wood instead of gas is our greatest energy saver at the moment. He came up to me yesterday and asked me if I'd rather burn water in our car instead of gas. I said "what"? He said he found on eBay a water to hydrogen converter to fit in our little truck. H2O(water) he tells me is two parts hydrogen which is a very burnable gas that will run our truck. I was all excited 'till I stop to think we were drinking gas? (lol)

The wonders of cutting back

The wonders of saving money by cutting back the little things:
1. Taking one truck off the road - 58 dollars a month
2. Stop smoking - 210 dollars a month
3. Taking motorcycle off the road for winter - 16 dollars a month
4. Installing wood st0ve, gas savings - 80 dollars a month
5. Combining trips to the store each week - 80 dollars a month
6. Unplugging everything that draws electricity when not in use - 48 dollars a month
7. Changing all of our light bulbs into energy efficient ones - 7 dollars a month

We can go on and on but its wonders when you look at it that were saving over 500 dollars a month. Just spectacular!

So much like Daddy

It's been my fun and interesting times raising our son, teaching him this teaching him that. And remember I said the word teaching, he astounds me how quick he picks up everything. The amazing thing is he is a natural when it comes to his engineering ability along with his imagination. He creates three storey bridges to ride his train on. You should see him with his home depot work bench. He measures things and comes to tell me how big they are. The measurement is not right but he believes it is. Just don't get the battery go dead in his drill he'll be all over you requesting new ones. So much like Daddy.

Journey in the living room

We got bored with the living room the other day. Never seems to have enough room even though the living room is huge. The couch is huge also. The stereo cabinet was on the other side of the room while the TV cabinet was in another location. I stood there looking at them and noticed that one which stack upon the other so it gives us more in the other location. Now I can put my bookshelf in that location. Along the way of doing this I decided to change the wall clock location. This was really funny. I been looking at it in one wall for so many years that once I moved it I keep on looking at that same wall even though the clock is on the other. (hehe)

Halloween Costumes

Halloween should be a longer occasion. It's one of our most favorite time of the year because let's face it you don't normally play dressed up for any of the other holidays. By the end of the evening were already thinking about next year's costume. When the kids are little and you're making their choices is the sweetest time. So many different outfits to choose from. Going trick or treating around our block is like waiting for the super bowl game.

Doug, our neighbor two doors down goes all out from scratch. He builds the whole haunted house out of his front yard and two car garage. He has temporary walls he sets up with every kind of monster imaginable. This year he even added a fake truck coming though a brick wall that would automatically reset itself. How horrific!

We should back up and say we have so much fun with the kids. We plant our own pumpkin seeds that we continue recycling from the year before's pumpkins. Our pumpkins are the biggest in the neighborhood weighing in at 60 pounds each.

The wonders of deep thought

Has this ever happened to you? You're thinking one thing your husband is thinking another. I was in a bath getting ready to take my step daughter home. My mistake, I thought I was going with him. I know he was in a hurry and then I found out. He came in the bathroom gave me a kiss and a hug said he'd be right back. I thought he was just going outdoors for a minute. By the time I got out of the bathroom I couldn't find him. He had already left! I don't know what I was thinking so I called him on his phone he said he was already on his way home from dropping off my step daughter. Well I guess that save some time. (hahaha)

Learn About Shower Enclosures

We thought we knew everything about our bathroom project well we thought wrong. Thank goodness for an awesome site that we found on the Internet. We started out last year just installing a faucet and a new counter top but the bathroom still was in need of a complete face lift. I tell you what you better be a quick thinker when it comes to tearing apart a bathroom because obviously its one room you can't do without. I think that the thing that took us the longest to agree on because there are so many different shower enclosures. It was just so hard to pick the tub we had picked out from the year before. So that was no problem. We also went with some beautiful mosaic tiles.

The wonders of fiberglass

I always knew that insulation could be itchy. But up to yesterday I didn't realize that insulation the pink kind is actually spun glass. Just from moving two rolls of it out of our shed to bring into the basement my arms got covered with it. Itch itch itch...you wash up it's still there. The best things that you can do is run cold water down your arms. This closes your pores and pushes the fiberglass out of them. If you use hot water you're in trouble because the glass goes deeper into your pores.

Recirculatory fan

When we decided to put our big wood stove in our house to save energy. It's a great idea. In our basement level downstairs, we still needed leave the gas heater on to warm the live-in basement. They should call my husband McGuiver. He's always figuring things out. Behind our wood stove upstairs is a closet area. He built a false box in there, put two vents through the wall, installed the in line fan to take hot air from the upstairs to the downstairs. Therefore, there is no need for the gas heater downstairs anymore. Talk about an energy saver. He makes me wonder sometimes the things he comes up with.

Financial Information

You think that I have learned my lesson about charge cards. Its so very easy to use them.Just pull it out of your wallet slide it in the machine and your done. Until your monthly bill comes. At first their monthly minimal payment doesn't look like much but what you have to understand is and I didn't at first by paying the monthly minimal payment, it would take me seven years to pay off a couple of thousand dollars. The interest rate is where they get you. At the time it was 9.99 that was cheap for a charge card. But over the years I had been one day late twice they jack me up to twenty one percent for quite some time.

I didn't even notice. I was so busy with all our life having our new born baby at the time. I was kind of focused on other issues. I was so ecstatic one day. The mail truck had gone by. I was expecting a package for Christmas for my son. In order to get the mail though we had to get dressed for the frigid weather. It was snowing and blowing a Northeaster storm out. When I got to the mailbox I realized the package hadn't come. But in there was offers for new charge cards at 9.9 percent that made me happy at the time. So I started filling out the paper work.

A few weeks went by I received my new cards with convenient checks the main clue about convenient checks is to watch the dates that the interest rate expires in the future. That way you know what to expect a year to down the road. I paid the high interest card off and closed that account. You see though years later, debt consolidation loans are the way to go. It was extremely easier to have one payment rather than all the charge card bills and the interest was so much less. I think everyone out there has probably learn this lesson.

Save The Date Postcards

Planning a wedding in a three month time frame is a very hectic ordeal. The chaos of it all. its a wonder that you don't need to get a divorce before you get married. (haha) We had a format with everything we needed to get done. Now if everybody will remember to follow through with their part. So many different angles for something to go wrong. It reminded me of the nightmares when we renovated our house. When it came to sending out wedding invitation we had two different kinds. Both of these kinds were designed on postcards.com. For the wedding party we had a six by eleven autumn picture on one side and then the other side the complete announcement of our wedding. We still needed another hundred invitations. We picked save the date postcards for the announcements. It was quick. We had it done with their premium stock with the UV coating to assure that the picture on the card would last for years to come.

The wonders of baking soda

In today's world a lot of times we're forgetting about our older product that have worked good in the past. You should do yourself a favor and always write down products that worked great so when you go to the store you don't pick out a different product to find out later on that it doesn't work very good. One of our favorite old product is baking soda. The use of baking soda goes on and on. From brushing your teeth to having a luxurious soft bath water to scrubbing away stubborn stains on multiple surfaces. I thought the edge of copper on my pots and pans would ever come clean until I use the baking soda.
PS.. throw a little bit in your garbage pale as a deodorizer. It works miracles. Read the box sometimes.

Wooden Blinds Direct

It seemed like every other day my grandmother was complaining about her old porch. I finally got a few family members together to look at the situation. Originally we were gonna tear down the whole porch and replace it. It seem a shame that my grandfather had built the whole porch back in the nineteen forties. Instead of tearing the whole thing down which the front was windows all the way across, we decided to take out the three center windows and replace them with the sliding glass door. We re-sanded the old hardwood floors in there. My grandmother didn't want to part with the old blinds that were in there because they were so unique. But they were in disrepair from the many years of use. Grandma thought it was so interesting when I brought my laptop over. We started our search online for new venetian blinds and of course this took days. The tough part I had was talking her into having all vertical blinds to match. The simplex of the site that we found was amazing. We already had all our sizes. After we had picked what we wanted it only took fifteen minutes to conclude our sale.

The wonder of quick breakfast

We were always on the go. Eating right in the morning is getting tougher everyday. Let's face it you have to get up at least forty five extra minute each morning to cook. We were out grocery shopping, I happen to picked up a box of Pillsbury toaster scrambles. The type that I've picked up has eggs, sausage, and cheese sauce all in one. Putting them in toaster for such a quick breakfast is ideal for me considering that I pre-cooked my rice the evening before to have with this.

Diesel Parts Pros

We expanded our horizons on our small renovation business. One of our big trucks is set off just for doing blown-in-insulation. Our other two big truck are set up with all of our tools for doing our kitchen and bath renovations. Being we're in New York State everything is fine until the temperature dropped below twenty five degrees. You see all these trucks are diesel so when the guys come home with the trucks from the jobs, they're suppose to plug the trucks in to keep the diesel fuel pump warm so that the truck start smoothly the next day. You think by putting a big sticker on the steering wheel saying "plug me in" !!!!! or you won't work tomorrow would be enough reminder for the guys. But they still forget. ahhh..

The wonders of fiber optics

Fiber optics are amazing! It's hard to conceive what they really do. It actually starts with the vibration of your voice. An encoder machine measures the sound turns it into a current then the machine digitally codes the electrical signals. It is then turned into different tones of light transmitted acrossed a laser sent across the fiber optic cable. And if you understand that you're doing better than we are! (hehehe) You have to read the whole book on the subject and then your mind still can't grasp the situation.

Cleaning

Clean clean clean. Sometimes that's all we do. We have a small cleaning business and other times there is not a lot of work around. What we do is empty apartment cleaning. When people move out we do an in-depth cleaning not just like lightly doing this and lightly doing that. A lot of it unfortunately is on your hands and knees along with pulling out all the appliances. We're quite busy the other week so we called the temporary service to ask them for a person that really knows how to clean to help us. We left the girl there. The apartment should have took seven hours. We came back in four hours she was gone. We called her on her cellphone she said the apartment was done. She didn't do half of what we told her to do the apartment was still a mess. It goes to show you that if you want a job done right you best do it yourself.

Christmas Cards

I remember some grand old memories of yesteryear Christmas cards. Some of them are so extravagant, you ended up looking at them and picking them up so many times and when Christmas was over you didn't want to pack them up. They were like souvenirs that you always remember. All of our cards from many years were packed away with our Christmas decorations. So each year when you go to set up again, there's always that fifteen or twenty minutes where you look through all your cards from the years passed. Some of them are very heart warming. When you open them up and stop to think about your grandparents that you used to share this time with and they're gone now. I went out this year to buy Christmas cards. I couldn't really find what I was looking for. Until I found this place with the custom christmas cards everything that I loved of the past I found now in the future.

Favorites and their wonders

To the parents... as you go out to the store to blindly pick out possible new movies for your children not knowing how good or how bad they'll be not to mention the twenty extra dollars that you waste on the purchase. Make a list of your childhood memories, think back at how fantastic the Walt Disney movies were and still are incredible. Not to mention the exquisite depth and eye for detail that Walter Disney's crew had. Some of today's movies are great for special effect but you still can't beat some of the old time favorites.

The wonders of warranties

Thank goodness for warranties. We bought a PC to end hopefully all needs of buying another PC in the near future. It is a gateway quad ram. There's two 500 GB hard drives that equal a thousand GB together. There's a multi DVD burner with label flash technology. We have surge protectors on all of our electronics in the house but the only thing that a surge protector doesn't protect is the ground side protection. You wouldn't think that you would need to do anything to protect the ground side. If you know about electricity the ground is usually very invulnerable. We had a wind storm two weeks ago. A tree came down pushing a hot power wire onto the ground side turning the ground side of our power into two hundred volts frying our TV, our computer oh the list just goes on and on. Thank goodness for warranties and home owner insurance. We're covered on everything.

I'm waiting for winter Dad

It was really funny this morning. Our little one apparently had a bad sleep. Yesterday we were reminiscing of last winter and of course our little one was a whole year younger. This year is going to be so much more fun in the snow with him. He loves snow mobile. The only problem with him is he loves the speed too. Even on his little six volt four wheeler you make sure you put a helmet on. He likes to come down hills standing up and turning diagonally just before the bottom to make the back wheels spin. He seems to be a natural on balance. Getting back to him waking up this morning he sat up talk for a minute laid his head back down on a pillow and said to Dad. "Just one more minute Daddy I'm waiting for winter".!!!

We found a pair there that he actually keeps on because he loves them.

Splitting cherry trees : saving more buck

With the high cost of energy, saving every dime is important specially in New York State's cold winters. We have a wood stove. We have over fourty cherry trees on the property. They're huge over a hundred foot tall. My husband bought a chain saw and some wood splitting equipment. He then went out on a task of cutting the tree down. I help him split the wood and stack it. I tell you what it's a tremendous amount of work to save three hundred dollars on our gas bill a month but it is money to be saved. I just worry about him splitting the wood it just about kills him the cherry is very hard.

Our PC just sloooooowed down. So my husband comes over and try to fix it by re-arranging programs on the hard drive. Then defragging things on the hard drive and then he noticed one little thing. I just recently downloaded a hundred sixteen pictures and four short movies so unless I remove some of that it wouldn't work very well. But he said "don't touch it I'll buy something on the way home to fix it". He came home with a two hundred fifty GB portable external hard drive that plugs right in to the USB and removed all the movies and half the pictures to this portable drive. So awesome! So much more power now.

Today's tension

Do you ever have too much stress? In today's world there seems to be an abundance of it from job pressures high climbing electric and gas bills, money shortages. Every little thing adds up. First time in thirty years my husband was laid off three weeks ago. He hasn't slept a night sense then. He's tried sleeping pills in the past but they all make his muscles or nerves twitch. So we went back to the drug store just to see if there was anything different on the market. He came up with a neat little pill the brand is called "calms forte sleep aid". It seems to be all homeopathic it doesn't knock him out all night but it gives him a solid five hours of sleep. It seems to really relax you. You be the judge. And of course with any medicine please ask your doctor before trying this if you have any doubts.

Office furniture

It took us a few years to get our business established. One of the main things that we think greatly improve are clientele. Anyhow, we came in one morning to our office. We started thinking about how changing paint color would greatly improve the place. Five days later the paint job had taken on a life of its own. We ended up completely renovating the office from changing the windows and the doors and finding a nice berber carpet. Finally at the end of five days we got it all back together. Talk about intense renovations. Then we took and put our old furniture back where it went. And I think we got depressed right at the same time. We looked at our budget after all the renovations. And decided we had enough money left over for beautiful new set of office furniture..

Boating safety measures

We decided to go on a short trip on the boat yesterday. The motor was running a little rough so my husband bought some spark plugs for it. After he put them in started it up it was running quite a bit better. We bought the boat used and it had old gas in the tank. My husband siphoned the old gas out but it still had some bad gas jelling inside the tank. The only way to get rid of the jell is to keep on running tankfuls of gas through it and changing the plugs and the gas filter periodically. So we did. We got out on the river a little ways down.

My husband opened the throttle up to try to make sure the engine was running smooth. The speed limit on the river is 8mph. We were going about 25mph. Around the corner we went and how do you figure this. The coast guard boat was sitting right there. They pulled us over for going too fast. My husband explained that we were only doing the speed for less than a minute just to clear the motor out. He even showed them the old plugs. They didn't give us a ticket but they took us through the whole boat safety check. Counting life jackets, checking our fire extinguisher, flares, and asking about our non-existing horn. ( hehe ).

Anyhow, we found out that we need a horn and our flares are outdated. They let us go. They took my husband's name hopefully they don't send us a ticket in the mail. Wow! That made this Saturday a little more interesting.

Bedroom Sets

I've almost waited two years after moving in to our new house. I thought we were going to get new furniture when we moved in to the place but with my husband's layoff we had to wait awhile. We thought our taxes were included in our monthly mortgage payment. We were wrong. So that took another four hundred dollars out of our pockets each month to keep caught up with the tax men. Finally, he is back to work and I'm on my search for designer bedroom set along with a new dining room set and hutch. It makes me a little sad that my old bed is an extra large wood framed king sized bed but in the new house really only a queen size fits the room its because of the over sized closet but I'm not parting with my large walk in closet for nothing. I have a shoe rack that you would not believe I can put over 30 pairs of shoes on this rack and its almost filled. Anyhow, the bed we picked out is so extravagant that I'm gonna change the color of the room to a lighter color to give a more positive negative highlight effect of the new bed and the beautiful quilts I picked out down in PA dutch country.

What a start to a day!

Did you ever notice in the morning when you get up? The patterns, the repetitions that you set its pretty dreary if you think about it. The alarm goes off, the blankets fly off, you stumble into the kitchen, put the coffee in the coffee maker push the PC button to start then go to the TV. Waiting for that last little noise of that coffee maker to stop to indicate that delicious smelling nectar of your life source (coffee). Once you sip that first sip its down the hatch. Then your belly starts churning and opps its off for the bathroom. (lol!) Daddy is in there. Knock! knock! knock! gotta go...gotta really go! And he is in there reading the paper. What the heck! At least I know when he is done with the sports section he'll be out, he finds me sitting next to the door legs crossed and crawling in. What a start to a day!

A hunt for treasures

They say that men are notorious in not stopping at garage sales but I dont see my hubby in the same way. Its a good thing because I love to hunt for old stuff at garage sales and since I don't drive yet my husband is there to drive me to go to garage sales, lawn sale or what ever you call them. (lol!) So Sunday morning we drove down and my husband found a slide for sale. It was really a bargain. Havent' got a picture of it yet but I will post it here as soon as daddy finished his project for our little boy. I also found a bunch of gold some are 14k. I'm still collecting them so i can sell it online. The price of gold now a days is high so I'm hoping I could sell them too. It was worth it.

Building a web site

Building a web page is very complicated if you want to catch peoples attention. Learning how to design your front page with animation seems to be the biggest step not to mention html's that are those little squiggly lines and abbreviations that are buried beneath your front page that control everything. Now we know why web designers get so much money in building your site. We have spent hundreds of hours and were almost there I guess a dream come true is always worth the wait when you get to the end and you're happy with your hard work.

The wonders of tomato juice

Do you like eating tomatoes? How about drinking tomato juice? If you don't its about time to think about it especially if you are type 2 diabetes. They said that tomato juice prevent blood clots. Tomato juice has a blood thinning effect in people who have the disease. That means it reduces the tendency of blood platelets to clump together and form clots that can lead to strokes, heart attacks as well as life threatening conditions such as deep vein thrombosis a common problem for people who have diabetes. Precious fibre made my moths

We visited Grandma and Grandpa yesterday when the kids are playing in the back yard. Maddy my husband's ten year old requested us to come and look at what she found on the hanging branch of the tree. It's a cocoon and some part of it already had a few holes in it seems to be from when a silkworm had already turns into a moth and took off. Its incredible how a cocoon can be used by humans when a silkworm turns it into silk. Up to this time it is still the most precious fabric by weight.

Japanese beetles feasting on our flowers

My husband said they were japanese beetles feasting in our rose flowers. We gave a time out for these little beetles that keeps on coming back and ate the pretty flowers in our garden. So we bought a bottle of pesticide three weeks ago and sprayed the plants. But now they're back again that damages the flowers. The pesticide don't seem to work maybe there's some other type of pesticide available out there that will work. Any idea?

Home improvement

Since last Friday we never stop from attending the party on the Friday night at the friends house watching the fireworks at night, Saturday and Sunday cleaning the whole house scrubbing the dirty floors which our tenant had left on the apartment. Its part of what I called home improvement besides from other repairs that we are obliged to do. Ever wonder how it is like to have rental a house? Renting a house is a win win situation. You're lucky if you get a tenant which will treat the house just like their own or otherwise you'll end up spending more for the repairs. Anyone who wants to buy our house? You may please leave message on the comment box.

Hit the snooze a little more...

A good night's sleep revitalizes our tired body and getting rest during the night gives us more energy that helps us think clearly and move on with activities throughout the day. It's the basic necessities of life. It plays a major role in preparing our body and mind to become alert. Although there were many reasons why people don't get enough sleep, I believe that another reason why some people don't get the right amount of sleep they need is using a wrong kind of bed to sleep. Choosing a comfortable bed has a role in getting eight or more hours of sleep.

Based in my own experience before, I used to complain how bad my sleeps were when I get less than eight. So I and my husband agreed to replace our old bed then my sleep had change. I get more sleep now than before. I feel refreshed and ready to go in the morning.

This kind of bed will work perfectly also if you were thinking of changing or buying your new guest beds since it has these kind of styles that will fit in your kind of taste and more importantly the comfortability that you were looking for in beds.

What makes the rainbow colours in a soap bubble?

As a kid I used to play soap bubbles and I think everyone does at their younger age but even now I am still amazed by its rainbow color surface. The rainbow in a bubble is caused by light reflecting on the surface which create a wonderful color. My son was playing in the pool yesterday while mommy was blowing bubbles him trying to catch it. Its so funny when he held up his water gun and trying to shoot the bubbles and he squeals with delight as he awaits for it. This is a good picture of him in the baby pool.

The Chipmunks

It's so neat to watch the chipmunks running around in our backyard. It is so fun to watch them looking for food. Chipmunks are funny because they have a balancing problem when eating. Every time he stuffed his cheeks he would go a few steps, list to one side, then stop and dart for still another nut or two to balance the load. Chipmunks make their homes away from houses and barns and have tidy habits that's why they were tolerated even if they were rodents. One day we saw a chipmunk in our backyard just outside the shed. He went inside the small whole and disappeared from our sight. My son Jarred was so amazed by the little creature and ran towards the spot where it went. He was staring at the small whole waited and waited but no chipmunk comes out. He was a little disappointed by that. Maybe next time we will spot him again.

Kitchen Sinks

In today's world of renovations there's so many great products out there. We started renovating my mom and dad's old house, it was built in the 1940's. When it came to the kitchen we were all set with the maple cabinets and counter top after weeks of changing our minds. Originally we had picked out a stainless steel double basin drop in sink. But after my mom went for a visit to my aunt's house and discovered an under the counter sink mount that my aunt had installed she changed her mind on what type she liked. There are so many different undermount sinks to choose from to match up with any style counter top. It's amazing from stainless steel to the latest ingenuity the sink itself actually kills germs with its coating.

The wonders of peppermint

Our garden needs a lot of water especially during the hot days because the sand sucks the water in easily. On the other part of our garden we grow peppermint which my mom-in-law gave me last year. It gradually takes over the garden. They must have liked the water for they grow so fast. Peppermint plant is very useful so I don't want to eliminate them I just need to replant them on the far side so they won't take over and covered our other plants. Just for information that I want to share to you guys peppermint is excellent for promoting blood circulation or to take when you are not feeling well. Some brew the leaves as a tea or use them as a beverage garnish. It's a wonderful digestive aid- the reason after-dinner mints are so popular.

Baby Bedding

Three years ago I was one of the new moms who are so excited in preparing for my baby's wardrobe and completing the list of my baby's needs by far the most fun I have. Before my baby shower, friends and families asked what we want for the baby's needs and I thank them all for the generosity in giving tons of cute baby stuff. After checking on the gifts that we received from them we realized that we only need to buy a few things to complete our checklists. Since we have a hand me down antique crib from a friend all we need to do is buy the right Baby Bedding Sets. We choose a stylish Baby Bedding with colors and patters that we like and the ones that is safe and comfortable for the baby.

Tile murals for kitchens

What's your favorite place in your house? Mine is the kitchen because I love to cook and because this is the spot where I can be the boss. I am happy when after bugging my husband to replace our back splash with Tile murals, he finally made it. Now it's color and design looks more appealing since it stands out. Cleaning our backsplash is so much better also. I really admire the people who hand painted and created these unique decorative tiles.

Part II- scam

Okay remember the previous story that I posted here? This free trial Easy Google Profit Kit that I signed up for is really gets me. I am very upset about the whole ordeal them sending me a bill that says I owe them 72.21 this month so to resolve my problem I called the company. Waiting in line for about 10 minutes wasn't so bad when a customer service answered my call. I explained my present predicament and that I am requesting for my money back because I didn't sign up for the monthly subscription and I am not paying for that price. The representative told me that when I signed up for the 7 day free trial which costs me 1.95 it says there on the bottom of the page that I agree to paying the monthly charge for the subscription after 7 days if I didn't cancel. Waaaa...How come I didn't see it before? So I went back to their website and scroll down the page and there is the "terms and conditions" written in the smallest font size on earth at the very bottom of the page. They should write it more clearly to be visible. Lesson number one be aware what you are signing up for (lol!). Lesson number two: Always scroll down the page at the very bottom to make sure there is no hidden agenda in there.

Hummingbirds Are Coming!

If you want to be rewarded by beautiful sights of hummingbirds you can attract and bring them in your yard. The best way to attract them to come is to have a bird feeder hanging around for these fascinating creatures.

Picking the best hummingbird feeders for them are so much fun from choosing the bright colors then installing them. We have three different bird feeders on our property all at different window views. Such a wide selection of colors and different styles at Birdfeeders.com, it took us about forty five minutes to select our last one.

They're like aquariums in a sense they seem to give you that calm feeling in today's hectic world by just watching them. It is also fascinating to watch different kinds of hummingbirds every morning in our yard and telling their kind of species. I'm sure my mom in-law would be so happy to have one of those bird feeders. She had some bird feeders at their place and she loves watching birds visiting her every day. Birdfeeders are great gift for someone especial and perfect gift for all occasions.

We learned a lot their characteristics from online information's. For people who are also interested to find out the hummingbird's specie's specific information a great site to visit is the hummingbird library which you can find online.

Scam...again?

After I checked my account last night I didn't get to sleep at all after that thinking who the heck charged me 72.21 dollars in my account? I didn't recognize this unauthorized person charging me that big amount. For me working hard for that money and someone will just take it from my pocket is so frustrating. I don't really know where it came from. So I went through my inbox in my email and check for old transactions that I made. I've seen an old email dated a month ago me signing up for a free trial on "EASY GOOGLE PROFIT KIT" which promised me to earn easy google cash. I signed up for the trial which only charged me 1.95 but now it comes to me as a surprise when same company is charging me. When I signed up for the trial there wasn't a disclaimer on that page saying I should pay 72.21 after every month or I wasn't going to sign up for it. This serves as another lesson not just for me but for everyone to always check the background of the company your signing up for. I will try to dispute this case and I hope I can take my money back.

How to put a model ship inside a bottle

Watch this picture closely and figure out how to put this model ship inside this bottle. I know, its crazy because I can't figure that out myself until my husband told me. (lol)

Well here is the answer. The masts are on hinges and are pressed flat against the deck when the ship is passed through the neck of the bottle. Once inside, they are pulled upright by threads that are snipped off at the neck of the bottle and then glued. I think that's pretty smart.

Vacuum Pumps

My husband's friends at work called him as McGuiver because if problems arise at his work he always comes up with idea to fix that problem. At home, we don't like to see things come to a waste so he will do anything he can to make almost anything work. Our vacuum cleaner has helped our small business immensely. It makes my other job so much easier when I bring it at work and it was frustrating when one day it has been acting up. I hate to see it go the dumpster so my husband looked at it and found out that it needs a readjustment of rotary vacuum pumps. I was happy when after he repaired the vacuum I am back into business again.

Exterior shutters

It started when we decided to buy an old house and turn it into a two family house. Rented it and somehow work our way up to earn a little bit from it. After everything was all set and done it turned out that we need to inform the office so they could check if the house will pass through the inspection. So Daddy started all over again and inspect the house for some other fixer upper. Inside the house, everything was okay but some of the exterior shutters needs a replacement. Old age makes them deteriorate but after a few days everything looks great when Daddy installed the new ones. Now, our mind is at ease. We have a certification as proof that our house passed through the inspection.

Perfume on paper

Everyday free leaflet and magazines are in our mail box. Imagine how many trees are used to make these papers? Well anyhow, speaking of magazines the best part of receiving these is for me to collect the smelly perfume on the paper which was inserted on the magazine. They are pretty smart in catching every one's attention. They advertise their products by actually enclosing the fragrance in a magazine page. But have you wonder why when you rub or scratch the paper surface the perfume is released? What would be the method they used? Anyone? You may leave your message at the bottom of this post.

Why superglue sticks?

Back in my younger days at school, our teacher likes to give us a home work. The famous assignment that I remember is for us to make a card for Valentine's day so we can give it to our parents. To make that of course we need scissors, pencils, art paper and glue. Back then every penny is important to us. We have to be very thrifty. Instead of buying a glue I used the leftover rice boiled it until it's soft and very sticky. Believe it or not it really works but you have to wait half an hour to make it dry then it will really sticks. But these days when you compared rice paste to superglue the latter works like a miracle. Modern glue stick so well. Most glues are wholly synthetic. They dry quickly and form very strong bonds. The fastest acting ones are what they called super glues and instant glues which set in seconds. Amazing!

Perfect time to start our summer

Outdoor Gear

Our children loves camping so when we put a tent in our backyard the kids were filled with so much happiness. They were bouncing up and down with excitement. We have everything in the tent that we basically need such as sleeping bags, Surefire Flashlights, and some books to read. My son is more intrigued when he discovered that he can flick on a flashlight. It turned out into a puppet theater when Daddy do the handy puppet trick using a shadow of his hands. Later on we gather around the campfire and enjoy an evening of fun. It was such a great time being together.

My mom in law called last night inviting us to come over for dinner tonight. They been away for quite sometime and stayed in Florida to get away from the freezing cold of New York state. Now that spring is here they come back to spend the warm season with the kids. I just remembered what my father in-law said before they left, he said "I can't wait for our trip to new york so I can see Jarred again". That was really nice and sweet to hear. So tonight we will be spending some time with them and catch up with the lost time that we been away from each other.

Coming home

Yesterday was quite a busy day for us. We went to my in-laws house and fix the furnace and hooked up the water line so it would be ready by the time my in-laws come home from a long drive from Florida. Ocala Florida to Hastings NY would take 19 hours and 25 minutes non-stop driving, 1200.22 miles. We spend two hours fixing and by the time were done its about 11 o'clock and decided to stop on a garage sale on our way home. Daddy found a karaoke radio for the price of what he paid its very reasonable enough they just wanted to get rid of it and sell it for a very cheap amount. We are expecting Mom and Dad to arrive today wishing a safe trip for them.

Keeping up

It's been a while since I updated my posts here but I'm glad to be back. What's keeping me busy? I decided to get something done at the little apartment first so it would be ready for the next move in. After we post our advertisement two days ago from Craigslist we are flooded with calls from people inquiring about the rent. Daddy was busy at his new job so since I was staying at home I had the chance to show to the people who came in to see the apartment downstairs. Yesterday, it was about 6 pm when the last person arrived. It was an elderly lady. After exchanging words with her we agreed to settle down an agreement. We are happy to met our new tenant for she seems to be a good tenant. We are hoping to be lucky this time.

A soap that lightens your skin

Some of us are obsessed on something that we try to look for an answer into it. I happened to have found an answer to my quest on how to improve my skin tone. It may sound ridiculous but I like becoming lighter in complexion just a little bit. I was reading a story of a famous showbiz personality Jacqui O. who used this kind of soap and I thought maybe this would help my case so I went online and bought it for a minimal amount. They call it GlutaMAX Lightening Soap. Just can't wait to try it myself. By the way I bought it from eBay just type in to search and you will come up with a result. You may read the full story here of an article that I found about this lightening soap.

Spring is around the corner

Yesterday morning, we went outdoors. It was a frosty 20 degrees. We started doing some outdoors cleaning and we heard the chirps of our first robin of the spring. Its a welcomed sign. Being we're on the edge of New York snow belt area, we have actually seen snow in May. Two miles south of here there is no snow. We still have 8 inches on the ground hard packed. We have two snow mobiles that we can still ride and two miles south they were playing bicycles outdoors. It,s kinda strange what 2 miles south will bring. Their spring time is 3 weeks earlier than ours. We sit and watch our spring flowers actually popping through the snow.

I took one last photo of us in front of the bayliner standing from left is Tom- the new captain of Cierra Bayliner, next to him is my husband Kevin, myself, and sitting down is our son Jarred. To the new owner goodluck guys! We're sure you and your family will enjoy the boat. :-)

Big savings on little nickles

We never stop to think enough about recycling. If you take a look in your garbage bag and took the time to sort through, you'd find out that 95 percent of your garbage can be recycled. Think about it. Glass, plastic, paper, metal as in soup cans that if you take all this out of your garbage what's left? Not much. We live in New York State and most of our bottle waters that we buy have the State of Maine 5 cent deposit stamp on them. So by saving all out State of Maine water bottles for one year it paid for 3 quarters of our trip to go to Bar Harbor Maine. Its beautiful there. We wanted to go for the fresh catch seafood and to see the whales close up. Do a search on Bar Harbor Maine and you'll see the beauty of our trip.

Staying fit : its importance

For some exercise has been always important to stay fit, but for some they started exercising and give up for some reasons. It might be a hectic schedule from other activities and they don't have time to exercise. I put myself on the second situation I just mentioned. I've always been very active way back and engaged in lots of activities to stay physically fit but after i gave birth I focused myself as a homemaker and setting aside the latter. Everyday I was complaining of my back pain. So last night my husband took one of the workout tapes that he got and said " here you might want to look at it" so this morning I played the VHS tape and started doing my workout. Yes keeping physically fit is very important. There's a big wonder after all.

Modern tech : driven to distraction?

I bought my husband a tom tom GPS navigation for his birthday. He liked it so much and I am very glad he liked the present. But some say its a distraction on the road while you drive. Or is it not? On my own point of view it does have a negative and positive outcome. So it really depends on how you handle your situation. For us its a big help while we travel instead of using the old fashioned way of locating places that we wanted to go. Just be more responsible in using every gadget that you add up in your car.

what a wonderful world

In my country where I grew up the climate is very different than over here in the United States. The Philippines have a tropical marine climate.

There are three well known recognized seasons which are dry, rainy and cold season but the average for dry season in March to May is about 74° / 94°F ; Wet season in June to October 73° / 94°F ; and Cool Season in November to February about 71° / 86°F. It's a very nice place to go.

On the other hand it's also nice to experience different climate here in New York where you do other activities outdoors that you can't find over in the Philippines. We love snowmobiling in winter and snow sliding down our hill in the backyard. Most importantly to always remember that it doesn't matter where you go with life it's who you'll be beside you. What a wonderful world.

why does salt melt the ice

It makes me wonder why salt melts the ice. My question was brought up after what happened to me the other day when I accidentally fell down from the icy ground and landed on my side hips. Thank goodness it wasn't that bad at all. Only a little scrape on my hand when I used it to support myself from falling hard. My hip was a little sore. The next morning my husband sprinkled salt on the icy area and just after he did that you can hear the popping sounds of the ice. Incredibly the salt melts down the ice. To answer my question I began searching online about it. I found an explanation which I thought you would be interested to know. Thanks for this site where I learned the chemical explanation of my quest. Click here to know the answer.

To watch or not to watch

Just done watching The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian (2008). This movie is a type of fairy tale medieval movie is quite a few in a series dating back years ago. Basically the movie as far as I could see was trying to regain the kingdom of Narnia back into the hands of the creatures of the forest. The only thing that I couldn't understand is why they would have a human as their king instead of one of the creatures. But if you don't want to have your kids see a lot of violence then don't take them to see this movie. I really enjoyed the animation myself even though the battles were constantly on going in the movie. All in all I like the movie just a little tough to follow.

How is it like to ride a snow mobile at night

We were out tonight for a snow mobile ride. It's the first time that Daddy brought me and Jarred to the woods which find it so different. We usually ride on daytime. Tonight it was snowing and it is so neat to see the snow in the headlights. Not a lot of wind so it was a nice ride. That cool air will surely wake you up. We started to go down the long hill and Jarred being he is sitting in front says weeeeee eeeee eeeee, hold on! Daddy feels Jarred's hands tightened around his legs as he holds on more. He loves the ride and that makes him a born New Yorker.

The wonders of antiques

My husband inherited an antique Damascus sewing machine from his grandmother. I was happy and sad when I looked at it. The sewing machine just sits in one corner and no one is paying attention to it. On the other hand I'm happy thinking that I can make it run.

As I look into the belt it looks ratty and falling apart from old age and years that it hasn't been used. It needs a belt replacement but then again I was so excited to try it now to see if aside from the belt being useless if there's anything more that could be replaced.

So I took my jogging pants belt and tie it on both ends and replace it to the old sewing machine belt. I was so ecstatic when I made it work that way.The machine runs fine only a little bit of cleaning to do. I also oiled every nooks and crannies to condition the sewing machine.

My husband was laughing when he saw my jogging pants belt that I put into the sewing machine and me using his good old grandma's sewing machine. I said hey it works and I'm glad about it.

Have you ever heard of a plant most commonly known as silver dollar?

Winter, spring, summer, and fall comes and goes. The first four words reminds me of the song "you've got a friend" but no this post is not about that song. I love plants and watch them come alive in spring. So beautiful it is to live in this world surrounded with natural beauty.

I have never seen a beautiful plant commonly known as silver dollar in my country until my mother in-law gave me a dried arrangement and seeds to sprinkle in our backyard. She had so many of them growing in her garden and every year she sold a lot of them in the market. It's funny how many people ask them for more. The seeds that she gave me have grown about half foot until winter made them disappear from the ground. I was upset about what happened to my plant but I am hoping for the best that this spring they will show up again.

If you were curious how it look like you can easily spot them. Who knows maybe you have it in your backyard too. :-) The plant has a deep purple flower and has a dollar-like seed pods. When dried, these pods with seeds make attractive decorations. Check out two year old silver dollar plant decoration that my mother-in-law gave me. Very pretty..

Winter : coldest time of the year?

Yes, that's true. Winter may be the coldest time of year but what's hot today everywhere from TV, magazine, newspapers and many other media information is how you handle your new years resolution. One of the hottest this year is exercising which benefit personal health. Making resolutions for the New Year is an excellent way to set up personal and professional goals. My New years resolution is to keep physically fit. It's so funny when my husband is teasing me how my belly is sticking out sometimes specially after eating. (hehe) After giving birth I admit I get lazy to exercise and now I just need to get rid the few pounds that I gained.

What to expect in winter driving in New York

I bet a lot of you have heard of brown outs and black outs but, have you heard of a white out? Coming home the other night, we experienced high winds with tree limbs falling all over the road. Along with freezing rain and then it started snowing. Do you know that snow is mesmerizing? As it hits the headlights of our car, you have to keep on turning away and re-focusing your eyesight. And then across wind comes up blowing snow so it completely blinds you. I feel the cars slow down because visibility is about twenty five feet until the cross wind goes away. This is a true white out. It's so bright in the headlights that it's blinding.

Have you seen the show on monday night?

Have you seen the Bizarre Foods show hosted by with Andrew Zimmern? It's amazing that we come to our own country with our own specialty food. I could never even try what this guy tried. From fried cricket to pig's brain. They even had one lady slicing up a stingray mixing it up with garlic and onion like it's a stew. I think my main favorite one is where they crack open what looks to be bamboo tree and take this long live worms out of them and he sucks it down like spaghetti. The cricket's he said were really crunchy salty and hot. My stomach is doing flip just thinking about it but all and all it's an interesting and fun show to watch.

Let's Play Pretend

Last night Jarred, our two year old grabbed the flash light and shine it on mommy's mouth. He was indulged in his little world pretending like a doctor. He said "say ahhh mama, say ahhh" he goes "ewwwww mama". It's a good thing that Jarred thinks he is suppose to brush his teeth at least once an hour. He just likes the taste of the toothpaste. At any rate, this is good for us and shows good habit and will make his teeth last a lifetime.

Candy Counter

All kids are explorer by nature. They love searching high and low. Jarred is now two years and four months old and on this stage is where he likes to reach and climb on things. Locking things up that are dangerous makes me feel more secure but he still looks for the candy in the counter. He know what he wants. Good thing mommy and daddy were there to supervise.
